I stopt my subscription for 3ds Max. I still love the program but I didn’t find the upgrades worth the money anymore. I will keep my 2014 version till its old and rusty, but I forsee decline in uptodateness in the near future.
I found a new love.. Blender. I’m learning like a fanatic and I must say; I’m impressed. The program looks solid and the UI sensible. I love the sculpting mode. I never got used to Zbrush.
Whats best (being Dutch).. Updates are frequent and free!
About ten years ago I flew to Malabo; a small island of the coast of East Africa. It was one of my most impressive flights. Like a opening scene of Jurassic Park; lush jungle, volcanoes, and beautiful clouds. After landing I spotted a wreck just next of the runway. It was left there some time ago. Time and the tropical climate had left its mark.
Modeling: 3ds Max
Rendering and Vegetation: Vue
I stay in hotelrooms a lot. Every hotelroom has this airconditioning vent, usually just above the hallway in the room. With the technological advances of recent years, I do wonder sometimes, if there is a hidden camera looking through the gaps. If so, I’ve never noticed it.
I feel bad for the pervered filming me.. a sack of pale white skin and bones 🙂
After I saw a image of Paul Hamilton I was inspired to make a lavender field myself. I like to make images in one day but this time it took a bit longer.. 3 days. The rendering alone lasted for a hole day.
Inspired by the beautiful Scandinavian landscapes I build this image.
Using the same technique as the F16, I imported the model from Flight Simulator into Blender via 3ds Max to Vue.
I love the mix of vue with “traditional” 3d modeling. I didn’t do the modeling of the aircraft (I thank iFly for borrowing their beautiful model) so I have to come back one day to this image and replace the aircraft with one of my own. For what it’s worth.. I modelled the approach lights
I found out it is possible to import models from FSX into 3ds Max via Blender and then export to obj so you can import it into Vue. Are you still following me? It is not so hard but also not easy. Especially textures is hard work. I Thank Aerosoft for their beautiful F16 model.
