Failed attempt to make a bigger sculpture. On the backside something went wrong unfortunately. But a lot of lessons learned.
Made in Daz3D, exported to Fusion360 via Blender.
I was inspired by a newspaper artikel telling that the German government had purposefully and actively tried to make the population more scared of Covid in order to make them more compliant. I have no doubt other governments have done the same. I’m afraid that when covid is over we’re left with a whole lot of people who will remain afraid. Afraid of germs, social closeness or other people in general. I hope I’m wrong.
Alita: Battle Angel is a science fiction movie based on the manga serie Gunnm (Wikipedia). I like every attempt to make movies with cgi characters in them. Preferably with a twist, like the big eyes Alita has. So I enjoyed the movie and was inspired to make a wooden sculpture.
Not so much went wrong this time. That’s nice for a change.
I saw this painting from Willem Koekkoek at Tefaf in Maastricht. I did not have the budget to buy it, but I really liked it. According Wikipedia Willem Koekkoek was known for his idealized paintings of Holland.
This is a work in progress. I’m planning to finish this image somewhat different. No Star Wars for one. But the Star Wars bug got me. So I added the stormtrooper (thx JJ Palomo) and the rebel logo and called it finished.
The original plan is inspired by ArtStation. I really love the 2d concept art images on this site. I wanted to make concept art too but with 3d , because I can’t draw or paint well. So my initial drive was to make a fast build, sculpted and textured image. I failed. Most meshes are build extremely fast, but then I got caught up in details.
I’m learning Blender and by taking on a whole project is often times the best way; lather, rinse, repeat. I had to go back to 3ds Max a few times, but found it difficult to find my way around. Some other external programs were used. Blender is getting there but there are a few specialized programs, better suited for some stuff, out there. There are so many tutorials on how to do Blender that I can’t even start to thank all the makers, but thank you all.
I stay in hotelrooms a lot. Every hotelroom has this airconditioning vent, usually just above the hallway in the room. With the technological advances of recent years, I do wonder sometimes, if there is a hidden camera looking through the gaps. If so, I’ve never noticed it.
I feel bad for the pervered filming me.. a sack of pale white skin and bones 🙂
After I saw a image of Paul Hamilton I was inspired to make a lavender field myself. I like to make images in one day but this time it took a bit longer.. 3 days. The rendering alone lasted for a hole day.
