3ds Max Out Blender In

I stopt my subscription for 3ds Max. I still love the program but I didn’t find the upgrades worth the money anymore. I will keep my 2014 version till its old and rusty, but I forsee decline in uptodateness in the near future.

I found a new love.. Blender. I’m learning like a fanatic and I must say; I’m impressed. The program looks solid and the UI sensible. I love the sculpting mode. I never got used to Zbrush.

Whats best (being Dutch).. Updates are frequent and free!

We’ll see..

DirectX Ripper

I stumbled upon a program called 3d Ripper Dx. You can rip 3d scenes and objects from a game or program using DirectX. Isn’t it really cool that this is possible? I use 3ds Max 2012 64bit and thats not supported right now (up to 2011 32bit). You can rib as .obj and import this. I ripped a plane from Flight Sim but if I import the .obj into Max the object is skewed. But there must be a workable solution. I will look into it in the future when I find use for it.

Kinect Motion Capture

I bought a Kinect to start expirimenting with motion capture. Within an hour I connected, installed and made my first animation with motion capture!! I have to learn a lot but it looks promising.

Thanks to software developed by Jasper Brekelmans

Arbaro Trees

I discovered a program that generates trees and lets you export them in various formats.

New Viewport Styles

3ds Max 2012 is out now! Looks promising. This is a screengrab from the viewport. I have to find out how to render it this way.. if possible.
